Through Grenada citizenship by investment program, foreigners can secure a passport of a Caribbean nation. A Grenada passport allows visa–free travel to the Schengen Area and makes it possible to obtain a US E–2 business visa.
Grenada launched its citizenship by investment program in August 2013. Since then, nearly 11,000 people have obtained passports. Citizenship is granted to foreigners who invest in the state fund or purchase real estate. Investors are not required to visit the country either before or after obtaining a passport. They also do not have to pass language or history exams.
9 benefits of Grenada citizenship
Visa-free travel to 125 countries
A Grenada passport allows entry without a visa to 125 countries, including the Schengen Area and China. For the UK, an electronic travel authorisation is sufficient.
US E‑2 visa
Grenada citizens are eligible to apply for a US E–2 business visa. It allows the investor and their family to live in the United States and run a business there. The law does not set a minimum investment threshold, but in practice applicants usually invest $100,000 or more.
Second citizenship for the whole family
The investor may include family members in their application for Grenada citizenship: spouse, children, parents, brothers, and sisters.
No residence requirements
There is no need to live in Grenada or pass a language test to obtain citizenship. Travelling to Grenada is not required either. The process is fully remote.
Tax optimisation
Grenada tax residents do not pay tax on worldwide income, foreign dividends, interest, or royalties. There is no inheritance, capital gains, salary taxes, or stamp duty.
Access to world‑class education
Grenada is home to one of the world’s most renowned medical schools, St George’s University. Students complete internships in hospitals in the US and the UK.
Company registration abroad
Investors set up international businesses in Grenada to reduce taxes and costs in transactions with foreign partners. Company founders’ details are not entered in the trade register, which protects the investor and their business.
A safe haven
Grenada is one of the safest Caribbean nations, with low crime rates. Local residents do not fear theft or robbery. Holders of a Grenadian passport may stay in the country without time limits.
Foreign bank accounts
Grenada passport holders can open accounts in local banks, make international transfers, and keep funds on deposit. The reliability of Grenada’s banks is regulated by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank.

How to obtain Grenada citizenship by investment: step‑by‑step process
A compliance officer reviews the investor for compliance with the citizenship program requirements. They look for facts in the investor’s personal or business background that could prevent passport approval. The check takes one day and is fully confidential.
The Head office`s lawyers prepare an individual list of required documents for the investor. Once collected, the lawyers translate the documents, complete government forms, and submit them to the Grenada Citizenship by Investment Unit.
Investors undergo a banking check, after which the Citizenship by Investment Unit reviews the documents of the investor and their family members. Following the review, the applicant is invited to an online interview.
If the Due Diligence check is successful, the Unit issues an official approval letter. The investor then transfers funds to the state fund or purchases real estate. They are given 30 days to fulfil the investment requirement.
All applicants over 17 years old take an oath of allegiance. Lawyers help arrange this remotely through notaries. Passports are issued within four weeks. The documents are delivered to the Passportivity office, and lawyers send them to the address most convenient for the investor. The Grenada passport is valid for ten years, and for children under 18 — five years. After expiry, it must be renewed, which can also be done remotely.
